clothes-a-holic

my closet is on the verge of collapse. in the cramped space of my bedroom in my pad, my closet takes up almost 20% of the floor area (and volume). and with the amount of clothes i desperately cram in it, the magnets in the closet doors can no longer bear the weight; so they remain half-open, which poses a bit of hazard to me. i have scratched my arms numerous times from the edge of the half-open friggin’ closet door and what’s more annoying is the fact that my clothes almost always choose the perfect time to come toppling down just when i am rushing to get ready to go to work (late, as always).

you may think, "so get rid of some of your clothes!" easy, right? but no, you’re talking to a ‘trash-keeper’, as my mom would put it. everything, as in everything, has some sort of sentimental value to me ("i was wearing this blouse when juan miguel zubiri caught my eye and smiled at me at the airport" or "this was my very first pair of purple replay jeans and even if it’s already out of style or even if it won’t fit anymore, not ever in my whole life, i just can’t get rid of it, who knows a miracle might happen and i might lose 250 lbs overnight"). following this line of reasoning, i just can’t dispose of anything. and no, a garage sale won’t do. it’d just break my heart. i’d rather commute, than voluntarily part with my clothes. and that says a lot.

that being said, and after pondering, i came up with a brilliant idea!! maybe i could sponsor a clothes trade! this way, i won’t have to part with my clothes (i can still see them because my friends would be wearing them) and acquire semi-new ones without spending a cent!

conventional nelly could do with some of my weirder clothes, and i could greatly benefit from gid’s all-black blouse collection. abba and i can swap some great outfits too. i just don’t know where redgh could fit in all these… she’s 3 sizes smaller than all of us. but accessories can be exchanged too! belts, bags, hats (hmmm.. maybe it’s time for me to part with that boring black fisherman’s hat i never got to use), scarves and what-have-you’s.

alrighty. it’s decided. i shall be sponsoring a clothes trade sometime in the next couple of weeks, if schedules permit. should anyone wish to join (guys not included! sorry!), send me a message. bring your ‘must-be-disposed-soon-clothes’ and some snacks. (hehe.) it’s a good idea, ain’t it?

then again not. it still won’t solve my closet problem!! but i’m excited already. so, who cares? maybe i’ll just get a new closet. and move in to a bigger pad. Ü

    consider this:
take a photo of your once-upon-a-time favorite thing (a piece of clothing, an accessory, etc), then, donate it to charity.

You get to keep a photo of it (hey look, in this picture is a blouse that I wore when juan miguel zubiri caught my eye and smiled at me at the airpor), and know that somewhere, a cute little girl just wiped her boogers off on one of the sleeves and felt really proud of her new dress.
